FAQs

What's included with your mobile VR packages?
All of our mobile VR entertainment packages include a set number of wireless VR headsets, cutting-edge gaming computers, and spectator displays (one 4K display for our 4 system package and two displays for 6 to 12 system packages). We also provide a touch-screen "game preview" computer, allowing players to choose games easily, and specialized UV lights for low-light events. In addition, our packages include setup and tear-down and two experienced professionals to run the games and assist players.
How much space is required?
Space requirements for our VR games vary considerably. Our room-scale games require 8 to 12 sqft. per player (the larger, the better). Our free-roam games, on the other hand, run in larger areas ranging from 15 ft. x 15 ft. to 35 ft. x 35 ft. You can find game-specific space requirements at the bottom of the details page for each game on our website.
In addition to the play area, we need space for three 6 ft. tables (or two tables for the 4-system package) adjacent to the play area.
Can you setup outside?
Absolutely! We offer outdoor setups when the temperature is above 60°F and it's not raining. With our specialized UV lighting equipment, we can even operate at night, creating a unique and immersive VR experience for your guests. Just keep in mind that outdoor setups will require additional time and resources, as mentioned in the previous FAQ regarding setup and tear-down times.
What electrical requirements do you have?
Our mobile VR equipment has varying power requirements depending on the package you choose. Our 4-system package requires at least 2,650 watts, while our largest 12-system package requires up to 6,900 watts. It's important to ensure your venue can accommodate these power needs, allowing for ample overhead per circuit.
To help you meet these requirements, we provide extension cables (3 x 100-foot cables, 3 x 50-foot cables, and 4 x 25-foot cables) that suit most venues. If your event requires longer cable runs than we can provide, you'll need to supply any additional extension cables (16/3 13A 1625-watt or better).
Do we need internet service or mobile data reception?
While many of our VR games, such as our Ubisoft games, don't require an internet connection, some games do. To ensure reliable connectivity, we use a Verizon 4G/5G Hotspot that covers "99% of American homes & businesses." In most cases, this should be sufficient, regardless of your venue's location.
However, if your venue happens to be in the 1% of locations not covered, you can find an "LTE Required" tag under game details for each game. This tag indicates that a particular game requires an LTE connection, and we would not be able to run that game at your event without it.
How long does setup & tear-down take?
Generally, setup takes about two hours, while tear-down takes around an hour. However, larger packages and outdoor setups can require additional time. For large outdoor events, setup and tear-down may take an extra two hours each, particularly during the daytime when we need to set up large tents (VR headsets rely on tracking that doesn't play well with bright skies). Be sure to keep this in mind when selecting a time, and contact us if you have any specific questions or concerns about setup times.
How far in advance should I book my event?
We suggest booking your event as early as possible to secure your desired date. While we require a minimum of 48 hours' notice to ensure proper planning, preparation, travel time, we encourage you to consider booking at least two weeks in advance.
We mention this mainly so customers don’t wait until the last minute to book outdoor events, hoping for a better weather forecast. By booking your event well ahead of time, you can secure your date and have the option to cancel if weather conditions are unfavorable. For more information on our booking and cancellation policies, see our Terms & Conditions page.
What's your cancelation policy?
We ask that you reschedule or cancel at least 72 hours before your booking. If you do, you will receive a full refund to your original payment method. If you need to cancel less than 72 hours in advance, we ask that you call us to cancel as early as possible. For any booking canceled with less than 72 hours' notice, you will receive a credit to use for a future event, which can be redeemed once.
How physically challenging are your VR games?
The physical difficulty of our VR games varies depending on the title. While most games don't require a high level of physical effort, some games, such as sports and dancing games, will be more physically demanding. Our experienced professionals can help you select games that suit the preferences and abilities of your guests, ensuring that everyone has an enjoyable VR experience.
How difficult is it to use the controllers?
Most VR games have user-friendly controls that are intuitive to use. The grip buttons are usually used to grab objects, triggers are for shooting weapons, and joysticks control movement. While a few titles may have a steeper learning curve, in-game tutorials, and controller diagrams help make the experience smoother. Our team also provides controller instructions before gaming sessions and advises players about in-game tutorials. With these resources, navigating our various VR realms becomes a breeze.
Can players wear prescription glasses?
Yes, players can wear prescription glasses, provided that the frames are not excessively large. To accommodate eyewear, we have configured half of our VR headsets accordingly. However, it is worth noting that wearing glasses reduces immersion. We recommend wearing contacts if possible for an optimal experience, especially during longer sessions. Additionally, it would be helpful if you could inform us in advance about the number of players who will be wearing glasses so that we can help ensure everyone has an optimal VR gaming experience.
Do your VR games cause motion sickness or nausea?
While advancements in VR game development have helped reduce the likelihood of motion sickness, some titles may still cause nausea or discomfort for certain users. To help you identify these games, we've added a "Motion Sickness" tag in the details of each game on our website. If you experience any discomfort during your VR party experience, please inform our staff, as some games have settings that can be enabled to minimize the impact. With our ongoing efforts to improve the VR experience, we aim to ensure that our mobile VR entertainment events are enjoyable for all players.
What’s the minimum age for kids to play?
For safety and enjoyment, we require players to be at least 6 years old. This ensures that all participants have a fun and immersive experience, while minimizing any potential risks associated with younger children using virtual reality equipment.
Do parents need to sign waivers for children under 18 years old?
Yes, for any participants under the age of 18, a waiver must be signed by a parent or guardian. To request a waiver before your VR party event, please email us at support@virtualrealms.us. Alternatively, if a parent or guardian will be present at the event, they can sign the waiver on-site as we bring the forms to every mobile VR entertainment event in Oregon's Willamette Valley.
What's the difference between free-roam & room-scale VR?
Free-Roam VR, also called Arena-Scale VR, is an immersive experience that allows players to move freely within a large physical space, often used in arcades and other entertainment venues. This provides a more unrestricted VR experience.
In contrast, room-scale VR limits players to a smaller, fixed area ranging from 6 ft. x 6 ft. to 12 ft. x 12 ft. Players typically rely on joysticks or teleportation (pointing and pressing a button) to move around within the virtual environment, though some games require no (player controlled) movement and others use alternative methods.
Does the 'seated' tag mean a game must be played sitting down?
No, the 'seated' tag indicates that a game can be played while seated, but it's not a strict requirement. We do offer two games, 1976: Back To Midway and Touring Carts, which we recommend players experience while seated, as they feature in-game perspectives of being in a cockpit or go-cart seat, respectively. However, players are free to enjoy these games while standing if they prefer. Please note that we don't provide chairs, so you will need to have them available at your venue if you wish to play these games while seated.
What types of VR headsets and computers do you use?
We use upgraded Meta Quest 3 VR headsets for their exceptional visual quality, wide field of view, extensive game compatibility, and enhanced Wi-Fi adapters that minimize interference from other wireless networks and devices. Headset upgrades include soft, comfortable head straps and facial interfaces (the padding around your eyes), built-in air conditioning, and ergonomic controller grips for maximum comfort and immersion.
Our VR gaming PCs are custom-built and optimized specifically for VR. Equipped with cutting-edge graphics cards, they deliver stunning visuals while remaining compact and energy-efficient, using less than 500 watts per system.
