What are the most popular types of VR experiences at your arcade?

Our most popular categories include escape, action, and casual. Guests love teaming up to solve puzzles, survive zombie outbreaks, or explore fantasy worlds together. With more than 100 games available, there’s something for everyone. Also, be sure to check out our Editor's Choice collection, where we've assembled our most unforgettable titles.

Can we host birthday parties or private events at your VR arcade?

Yes! Virtual Realms is the perfect spot for birthday parties, holiday celebrations, team building, and corporate events. Reserve stations for your group, and our team will help you choose games that match your guests’ ages and experience levels. Big-screen spectator displays keep everyone engaged, and a dedicated party area is available with seating for 12— or you can rent the entire arcade for larger celebrations (48 people max).

We also offer a variety of snacks and drinks, plus plenty of room for everyone to play, watch, and hang out. It’s a unique, interactive way to celebrate any occasion. Call or text us at (503) 864-0104 with any questions or for help selecting titles tailored to your group.

What are the best VR games for beginners or first-time players?

For newcomers, we recommend VR games with intuitive controls and slower-paced gameplay. We’ve created a Beginner collection in our VR Game Library where you can browse titles that offer easy onboarding and simple controls. If you’re a first-time player or just looking for something casual, our team can help you find games that match your interests and comfort level—whether you enjoy puzzles, action, or exploration.

Do you take walk-ins, or should we book our VR sessions in advance?

We welcome walk-ins whenever space is available, but booking in advance is highly recommended—especially on weekends and holidays. Reservations ensure your preferred start time and help us prepare your setup ahead of arrival. You can easily book online through our website or by calling or texting us at (503) 864-0104.

What happens if we leave our VR session early?

All sessions are purchased for a set duration and begin once gameplay starts. If you choose to leave your VR session early, no partial refunds, credits, or time carryovers are provided for unused time.

You are welcome to take a short break between games (up to 10 minutes per hour of VR); however, If you take a break while a game is in progress, it will count against your total session time.

If a verified technical issue occurs that prevents normal gameplay (as determined by staff), we’ll extend, reschedule, or credit the affected time at our discretion.

Do you offer gift certificates/cards for birthdays, holidays, or special occasions?

Yes! We offer physical gift certificates that make great presents for birthdays, holidays, or any occasion. Gift certificates can be used toward any VR session, game package, promotion, or snacks and drinks. They’re perfect for anyone looking for a unique and memorable activity that’s truly out of this world.

What’s the minimum age for kids to play at your VR arcade?

For safety and comfort, we welcome players ages 8 and up at Virtual Realms. You can also explore our Kids Games collection to find the best options for younger players. If you need help finding the right game(s) for your child or group, please don't hesitate call or text us at (503) 864-0104.

Do parents need to sign waivers for children under 18 at your VR arcade?

Yes — for anyone under 18, a parent or legal guardian must sign a waiver in person before their first visit to Virtual Realms. Parents can sign the waiver in person before or during the visit, and we’ll securely keep it on file for return visits.

How accurate are the game duration times listed in your VR game library?

We’ve personally tested and completed many of the titles in our VR game library, but with over 100 games, it’s not possible to finish every single one to 100% completion. Some feature long campaigns or arcade-exclusive modes that vary by player skill. To keep things accurate, we reference average completion times and official info from game developers. The times shown on our website are estimates, but we regularly update them to help guests plan their visits and enjoy the best possible experience at our VR arcade.

Does the difficulty rating for games apply to physical toughness or puzzle complexity?

Our difficulty ratings are based on a mix of puzzle complexity, physical activity, and control mechanics. For example, a game with simple puzzles but more challenging motion controls might still be rated “Challenging.” In general, “Easy” and “Normal” games don’t require quick reflexes, constant movement, or complex controls, making them great for beginners or families looking for fun indoor activities or VR experiences. If you’re curious about a specific game’s rating, please don't hesitate to call or text us at (503) 864-0104. Our team is always happy to help!

Is Virtual Realms a good place for family entertainment or group outings?

Absolutely! Virtual Realms offers over 100 immersive VR games and experiences that are perfect for group activities. Whether you’re planning a fun night out with friends or family, a fun-filled birthday party, a team building session, or a corporate event, the arcade can accommodate up to 50 people, with seating for up to 24. Big-screen spectator displays let everyone enjoy the action, even when they’re not playing, and a modern party area is available to reserve for just $30 per hour (2 hour / 4 station minimum when booking the party room). Hosting a larger gathering? You can even rent out the entire arcade!

Plus, we offer a variety of snacks and drinks for sale to keep your group fueled for the fun. From escape rooms and lighthearted games for kids to sci-fi adventures and multi-player madness, our arcade was built for shared fun and laughter.

How physically challenging are your VR games?

The level of physical activity in our VR games varies by title. Most games involve light movement and are comfortable for beginners, while some—like sports, rhythm, and dancing games—offer a more active experience. If you’re planning a group outing or looking for fun indoor entertainment, our staff can recommend games that match your comfort level and play style. Please don't hesitate to call or text us at (503) 864-0104 if you need help selecting titles to meet your specific needs. Our team is always happy to help!

How difficult is it to use the controllers?

Most of our VR games feature simple, intuitive controls that new players pick up quickly. Some titles may take a few extra minutes to master, but built-in tutorials (offered in select games) make learning easy. We also provide a quick walkthrough before each session and are always nearby to assist if you need help. If you’re new to virtual reality, you can also browse our Beginner Games collection to find titles designed for first-time players. Even newcomers can jump in and start having fun within minutes.

Do your VR games cause motion sickness or nausea?

Most modern VR games are designed to greatly reduce motion sickness, but sensitivity can vary from person to person. Some players may still experience mild discomfort or dizziness, especially in fast-moving games. We’ve included a “Motion Sickness” tag on game pages for titles where motion sickness is more common. If you ever feel uneasy, let our staff know — some games have comfort settings that can be adjusted to make your session more enjoyable.

Can players wear prescription glasses?

Yes, most players can comfortably wear their prescription glasses inside our VR headsets, as long as the frames aren’t too large. However, wearing glasses can slightly reduce immersion compared to using contact lenses. For the best visual clarity and comfort, we recommend contacts when possible. Please note that polarized prescription lenses aren’t compatible with our VR headsets.

Does the “Seated” tag mean a game must be played sitting down?

No. The “Seated” tag simply means that a game can be played while sitting, but it isn’t required. We do have two titles—1976: Back to Midway and Kayak VR Mirage—that we recommend playing seated, since they feature in-vehicle perspectives. However, players are welcome to stand if they prefer, or sit while playing other games.

Can visitors watch their friends or family members play VR?

Yes! We have large screens set up in our lobby and party area so spectators can watch the action in real time. It’s a fun way for friends and family to cheer players on or share in the laughs during each experience. Because each screen can display up to four stations, viewing availability may be limited during busy times. If you’d like to guarantee use of one or both screens, we recommend reserving the party room or arcade in advance.

What safety measures are in place to ensure a comfortable VR experience?

Player safety and comfort are top priorities at Virtual Realms. Each headset is sanitized between uses, and our equipment includes hygienic facial padding and cooling fans for comfort. We also provide orientation and gameplay tips before each session. Our staff monitors gameplay to ensure safe movement within play areas, and we’re always available to assist if you experience discomfort or motion sensitivity.

Is Virtual Realms wheelchair-accessible or suitable for players with limited mobility?

Yes. Our VR stations are designed with accessibility in mind, and many games can be played while seated or standing in place. For players using wheelchairs or with limited mobility, we can recommend seated VR experiences that are just as engaging and immersive. If you have specific accessibility needs, let us know in advance so we can make sure everything is set up for your comfort.

What’s the difference between free-roam and room-scale VR?

Free-roam VR lets players move freely within a large physical space. It’s often used in large arenas where players can explore without boundaries.

Room-scale VR, on the other hand, takes place within a smaller defined area —typically between 6×6 and 12×12 feet. Players use joysticks or teleportation controls to navigate the virtual worlds.

At Virtual Realms, we offer room-scale VR experiences exclusively.

What VR equipment do you use?

We use upgraded Meta Quest 3 VR headsets, chosen for their exceptional visual clarity, wide field of view, excellent wireless capabilities, and extensive support for accessories. Each headset includes comfort upgrades such as plush, adjustable head straps, premium facial padding, built-in air conditioning, and ergonomic controller grips to enhance immersion and reduce fatigue.

Our VR gaming PCs are hand-built and optimized specifically for virtual reality gaming. Outfitted with cutting-edge graphics cards and high-performance components, they deliver smooth framerates, detailed visuals, and a seamless gameplay.
